Team

At the moment we have a team of three, and growing. We also have plenty of bright-minded associates and can tailor a team to whatever your needs might be.

Raoul Empey, Principal Consultant BA BAI, MSc, CEng MIEI, CEM-I

Raoul became a Climate Reality Leader in 2015 at a training in Miami by former US Vice President Al Gore. He is also a Certified Energy Manager with the Association of Energy Engineers (CEM) and a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland (CEng) with a background in the construction industry. He started out as a consulting civil and structural engineer in London before travelling the world and then settling down in Co. Wicklow.

But he doesn’t just collect letters after his name. He has been an energy advisor on the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s (SEAI) panels for its public sector and industry programmes since 2012. He mentors some of Bord Bia’s clients on writing sustainability plans under its Origin Green programme, and is a contributor to the International Organization for Standardization’s Net Zero Guiding Principles due to be launched at COP27 in Egypt this November (ISO IWA 42). And he works with a whole raft of private sector clients ranging from large enterprises with multinational presences to newly sprung microenterprises setting out on their journey.

The bit he enjoys most is engaging with people, be they chief executives, energy managers or marketing teams. He doesn’t really mind as long as they show an interest in sustainability. Raoul has assisted numerous large and small organisations realise valuable energy cost savings through energy management training and energy audits. And when not doing sustainability, Raoul enjoys performing with his cellist and songwriting wife, Vyvienne Long (but don’t ask him to play piano… the last gig was probably a year ago).
