All our team members have been personally trained for former US vice president Al Gore in communicating the reality of climate change. At the moment we have a team of two, and we plan to grow. But we also have plenty of brilliant minded associates and can tailor a team to whatever your needs might be.

Raoul Empey, Principal Consultant BA BAI, MSc, CEng MIEI, CEM-I

Raoul became a Climate Reality Leader in 2015 at a training in Miami by former US Vice President Al Gore. He is also a Certified Energy Manager with the Association of Energy Engineers (CEM) and a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland (CEng) with a background in the construction industry. He started out as a consulting civil and structural engineer in London before travelling the world and then settling down in Co. Wicklow.

But he doesn’t just collect letters after his name. He has been an energy advisor on the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s (SEAI) panels for its public sector and industry programmes since 2012. He mentors some of Bord Bia’s clients on writing sustainability plans under its Origin Green programme. And he works with a whole raft of private sector clients ranging from large enterprises with multinational presences to newly sprung microenterprises setting out on their journey.

The bit he enjoys most is engaging with people, be they chief executives, energy managers or marketing teams. He doesn’t really mind as long as they show an interest in sustainability. Raoul has assisted numerous large and small organisations realise valuable energy cost savings through energy management training and energy audits. And when not doing sustainability, Raoul enjoys performing with his cellist and songwriting wife, Vyvienne Long (but don’t ask him to play piano… the last gig was probably a year ago).

Romain Poissonnier, Carbon & Energy Analyst

Romain joined us in 2019, after having completed a curriculum within EM Normandie in France, a 3rd level school for MSc in business management. During his studies he focused on Sustainable Development, Cross Cultural Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility. Through his end-of-study thesis, he emphasised circular economy processes within companies in the food processing area and tried to understand which companies are more likely to invest in circular economy mechanisms. In his own time, Romain enjoys hiking in nature, and he has led several mobile youth camps to raise awareness on biodiversity protection in the “Pays de Bray” in Normandy
